What is 3v3 tournament?

  • 8 minute games
  • 3v3 soccer is 3 players vs 3 players on a small sided field, typically 1/4 or 1/3 of one of our indoor arenas.
  • 3 players vs 3 players on the field at a time. An alternate player is allowed on the roster, and teams are free to substitute during play.
  • If a team has a sub they will stand in the out of bounds area during the game and there is open subbing.
  • Players must play in the correct age bracket.  U8 means under 8, U10 means under 10 and U12 means under 12.  Teams can be all female, all male or co-ed and will play against each other in the designated age group and division.
  • No official goalies. Field marshalls will do their best to make sure players do not stand within 5 feet of the gaol without movement, but we ask that you explain this to your children as well. Sometimes as they are watching the games they may not notice as they are human.
  • The ball must stay below the chest. Field Marshalls will use their best judgment as players heights will vary from team to team. If the field marshall calls a high ball, the opposing team will take possession on the ground at the point of the call.
  • If the ball goes out of bounds behind the goal area the opposing team will pass it into the field from the out of bounds spot.  No throws.
  • No sliding
  • Overly physical or aggressive play will be given a warning, if a second issue arrises the field marshall has the right to remove the player from the field.  If a player is removed they may use their sub in their place.  If the team does not have a sub, they will play a man down.
  • Teams will earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss
  • To determine which 4 teams make it to the playoffs the total points earned will be evaluated.  If there is a tie the following will be evaluated in order:
    • head to head  winner
    • point differential
    • points against
    • points for
    • coin toss
  • In the playoff and championship games, if the match ends in a tie it will go to golden goal
